Outstanding Traffic Investigation

On 8/02/2022 Officer Brad Penet conducted a traffic stop while on patrol.  During the traffic stop Officer Penet arrested the passenger for two warrants (Perry and St. Clair County).  Officer Penet conducted a vehicle search and seized approximately 127 grams of cannabis (4.5 ounces/felony amount)

The driver was cited for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis and released.   The passenger was transported to St. Clair County Jail for the warrants.

Officer Penet’s pro-active patrol method has resulted in removing dangerous drugs from the Village of New Athens resulting with additional safety for the residents.

I am grateful to have Officer Penet in our police force.
